Arch Street Presbyterian Church Choir
We Are
An eclectic group of vocalists who gather at least three Sundays per month to praise God through the ministry of song. Individually, we represent a wide range of ethnic and cultural backgrounds which is reflected through our diverse musical repertoire of classical, gospel, spiritual, and contemporary selections.
We believe that the range of music we sing should reflect the rich experience each of us has found at Arch Street Presbyterian Church, a community that thrives on diversity and inclusion.
We invite you, regardless of your musical experience or membership status, to join us as we rehearse both before and after worship each week. If you can carry a tune and want to learn, YOU ARE WELCOME!
Our Mission
- Build a musical community at ASPC sharing God’s joy and loving-kindness with parishioners, the community and one another.
- Lead congregational singing and worship.
- Offer an opportunity for an inclusive and quality music ministry experience for those seeking a creative voice in ASPC’s worship service.
Beyond The Church Walls
The Arch Street Presbyterian Church Choir music ministry sometimes goes beyond Sunday morning service as we sing at various events in Philadelphia and the surrounding vicinity. Here are some past and present examples:
The Vincent Persichetti—Undine Moore Concert Series
The Vincent Persichetti—Undine Moore Concert series, sponsored by the Arch Street Presbyterian Church Music and Arts Ministry, is a concert series that recognizes the contributions of two prolific musicians and composers. Find out more here.
Pope Francis’ Visit to Philadelphia, September 26, 2015
Many of our choir members were featured in the Philadelphia Heritage Chorale’s involvement in the World Meeting of Families including Pope Francis’ first United States visit and were featured by news outlets around the world, as we accompanied Andreas Bocelli, Aretha Franklin, Maestro Yannick Nézet-Séguin and the Philadelphia Orchestra, and others.
The Kimmel Center Presents: A Soulful Christmas
Under the artistic and musical direction of our very own Dr. J. Donald Dumpson, Arch Street Presbyterian Church Choir participates annually in “A Soulful Christmas” located in the Kimmel Center’s Verizon Hall. The program features gospel, sacred and popular music legends like Edwin Hawkins, Pastor Shirley Ceasar and Moore. Regional pastors, choirs and soloists perform, too.
