Join the ASPC Choir!
Joining our church choir is a great way to get involved in our church and get to know some other church members. It is also a great outlet for music lovers. It helps to have some musical background, but being able to sight-read music is not necessary. A willingness to work hard and have a heart for exciting soul stirring music is all that's required.
Step 1
Introduce yourself to J. Donald Dumpson our Minister of Music and Arts. He can be contacted at jddumpson@aol.com or 215-563-3763.
Step 2
Simply come to rehearsals on Tuesday evenings from 7-8:30 PM in the chapel. No audition is required. Each singer will be placed in the proper section (soprano, alto, tenor or bass), by Donald. Tell Donald about your musical background, including whether you play an instrument or dance.
Step 3
Be sure you are available on our regular rehearsal night and that you are ready to make this commitment before you agree to be a part of the choir. Once the choir is established, there will be special performances, which may require extra rehearsal time. What a wonderful way to bring artistic excellence to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and our congregants!
Step 4
Attend your first rehearsal. Introduce yourself to the people sitting in your section to help ease your nerves a little. Pay close attention to the Donald’s musical cues and most importantly, enjoy yourself.
"The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him." Psalm 28:7
Adult Christian Education at ASPC (May 2010)
Whether you have been a Christian for your entire life or are bravely dabbling in unchartered territory, you are invited to participate in a 5-week course that will address the basic tenets of the Christian faith. Taught by the pastoral staff and interns of ASPC, this class will provide an opportunity for you to brush up on your catechism. We promise a lively, interactive introduction to Christianity, so bring your questions, your faith, and your doubts.
Adult Christian Education classes meet Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall 9:30-10:30 a.m. This class will be especially helpful for new members who are eager to reflect more deeply on the theological issues raised in Inquiry Classes here at the church. Mark your calendars May 2-30!
